How to Fix: WooCommerce Subscriptions is inactive

Have you received the error “WooCommerce Subscriptions is inactive. This version of Subscriptions requires WooCommerce 3.0 or newer.

You may also see an error under WooCommerce > Subscriptions saying invalid post type when trying to view all the subscriptions or individual subscriptions. We encountered this error after transferring a clients website from one hosting platform to another. 

How to fix this error: 

  • Backup your database, and make sure both WordPress, WooCommerce, and WooCommerce Subscriptions are fully updated. 
  • Go to Status under the WooCommerce Menu (WooCommerce > Status)
  • Click the Tools Tab
  • Scroll down to “Update database”
  • You may need to wait a moment and allow the database update to reapply. 

Refresh the admin page, and the notice should be gone and WooCommerce Subscriptions will now function.
