Project: Pete’s Big Bite Burgers
Role: Web Design & Digital Branding Focus: Visual Appetite Appeal, Mobile Ordering Integration, Brand Heritage, Franchise Expansion
Project Overview Pete’s Big Bite, a staple of the Durham Region dining scene since 1952, needed a website that tasted as good as its famous burgers. The goal was to modernize the digital presence of this “old school” brand without losing its retro charm. The new site focuses on mouth-watering visuals and a frictionless path to ordering, capitalizing on the restaurant’s reputation to drive both local takeout sales and franchise interest.
Key Deliverables & Features
- “Appetite First” Visual Design: Understanding that hungry customers eat with their eyes, the site design is heavily image-forward.
- High-Impact Hero Imagery: We utilized high-resolution, full-width photography of their signature “Banquet Burgers” and “Real Milkshakes” to trigger immediate cravings upon landing.
- Retro-Modern Aesthetic: The UI combines 1950s diner nostalgia (referencing their 1952 roots) with clean, modern typography, reinforcing the brand’s “Original Burger” identity while feeling fresh and current.
- Streamlined Mobile Ordering:
- One-Tap Conversion: Recognizing that most users visit the site on their phones while deciding what to eat, the “Order Now” button is permanently accessible (sticky) and prominent. It leads directly to their ordering platform, minimizing the clicks between “I’m hungry” and “Order placed.”
- Franchise Growth Platform:
- Expansion Ready: As the brand grows beyond its original Whitby location, a dedicated “Franchising” section was developed. This area serves as a sales tool for potential investors, outlining the history, brand strength, and business opportunity, positioning Pete’s not just as a local spot but as a scalable chain.
- Social Media Integration:
- “Check Out Our Grams”: A live Instagram feed is integrated directly into the homepage, keeping the content dynamic and showcasing user-generated content (UGC) from loyal fans, serving as powerful social proof.
The Outcome The new Pete’s Big Bite website serves as the perfect digital storefront for a beloved local brand. It effectively captures the nostalgia of the 1950s while providing the speed and convenience modern diners expect, driving higher online order volume and supporting their expansion goals.
